A slide of a workshop that Mark Coker, CEO of Smashwords, did in Sacramento for the California Writers Club back in September. I wanted to go to this so badly, since this was right in my backyard but I didn’t have any money to pay the workshop fee. Share with anyone and everyone who wants to know more about self-publishing!
Another excellent interview from Smashwords. Reading about Lallo’s writing journey was inspiring and made me feel a little bit better about my sales. I’m going to stay on my current path and hopefully become more successful.
Signed into my Smashwords account to see how my sales were shaping up. Downloads are up slightly and I’m finally in the premium catalog! This means that my book should be available at other e-book retailers like B&N, Kobo, Apple, etc., as well (as of 5/22 according to SW). A bright spot on an otherwise blah day.

His work is very professional and his prices are affordable. I will definitely be utilizing his services again for the next story. And I haven’t forgotten about you, print readers! Just wanted to pop in here to let you guys know that I’m getting The Lost King formatted for Smashwords right now. I have a bit of writer’s block right now, which is making it hard for me to get going on book 2. idk, it’s probably anxiety about the story or something. trying to get over the hump but it’s kinda difficult. Formatting should be done soon so that all you Nook, ipad, Kobo, etc., people can read the book too. I’ll post the link once it’s available.
Knowing When to Ask For Help
Everyone has a limit. I have reached mine. I’ve decided to hire someone else to do the rest of the formatting for The Lost King. I’ve done as much as I can do by myself. Now it’s time to call in a professional. I’ve been reading The Secrets to E-Book Publishing Success by Mark Coker. If you haven’t read it, I suggest that you check it out. It has a lot of really good advice for e-book writers and authors. While I was reading the e-book on my laptop, I realized that I’m not using my time wisely. I’ve been trying to do everything on a shoestring because I don’t have money to shell out like many other writers do. Most of the work I’ve done (with the exception of the editing) I did myself. What I plan on doing is having someone format my book for me so that I can put it on Smashwords. Once that is done, my book will be available in the Kindle store, Smashwords, and my official store on WePay. I want to get my book out into as many hands (or devices) as possible and make connections with my readers. Hopefully, this, along with more marketing will help to make that a reality.
I’m still working getting the print version of The Lost King finished but it’s slow going right now. I have the layout the way that I want it to look but I’m having trouble getting the page numbers to go where I need them to go. I love LibreOffice but sometimes I wish their instructions were a little bit clearer. I’m also working on The Father God as well. I hope to be finished with the second book before the year is over but I’m not going to pick a firm date yet.

A Bit of News
So, I’ve set an online store on WePay so that you, my lovely readers, can buy alternate formats. As of now, I only have HTML and plain text available. I plan on having a PDF version up there as well, just as soon as I figure out how to create it. I may put the mobi version up there as well, if you don’t feel like going on Amazon but I need to tweek it first. I’m working on the epub version right now but I’m looking it into having someone else do it for me. If you know anyone who formats on the cheap, please let me know! If there are any other formats that you would like to see available, msg me either on here or via email and I will see what I can do. Check out the store here.
