A Bit of News

So, I’ve set an online store on WePay so that you, my lovely readers, can buy alternate formats. As of now, I only have HTML and plain text available. I plan on having a PDF version up there as well, just as soon as I figure out how to create it. I may put the mobi version up there as well, if you don’t feel like going on Amazon but I need to tweek it first. I’m working on the epub version right now but I’m looking it into having someone else do it for me. If you know anyone who formats on the cheap, please let me know! If there are any other formats that you would like to see available, msg me either on here or via email and I will see what I can do. Check out the store here.

in other news, the PayPal/Smashwords debacle keeps on going. Read this Banned Writers’ article to see Visa’s response to all of the drama. Makes PayPal look like assholes.

formats, payments, and other things

I’ve been think about this stupid PayPal/CC bs that is giving Smashwords a huge headache and pissing off a bunch of writers, myself included. It dawned on me yesterday that my book, The Lost King, would be effected by this issue because of one of the scenes in Chapter 12 10. I could change it or take it out completely, but I don’t feel that I should have to do that. What I’m thinking of doing is giving readers the option of buying The Lost King directly from me, via WePay. I’d have a link on here where readers pick from HTML, TXT, or PDF, and then I’d email them the book. I’m working on the EPUB version right now to put on Barnes & Nobles, but I’m seriously considering paying someone to format it for me. If I can figure out how to use Sigil, I just might be able to do it. I’ll let you guys know what I end up doing once everything is in place.

If you haven’t heard already, PayPal is forcing Smashwords to remove books that contain rape, incest, bestiality and underage sexual content. You read the full story at TechDirt as well as the Smashwords Press release. This is nothing but plain censorship of writers. If you don’t believe that PayPal and the credit card companies have the right to enforce their brand of morality on readers, then please sign this petition and share it with everyone you know. Thanks.
